We were fortunate enough to stumble upon someone camping near the parking area. The large open-pit mine has several different rows to traverse. However, these were especially interesting, as the walls of these caves bore beautiful crystals. It wasn’t until we were on site that we found three different man-made caves! Exploring caves is cool enough in itself. That Camping Couple couldn’t resist an opportunity to find crystals for free. Well, you’re in luck, because that is exactly what Crystal Hill Mine has to offer! This amazing site is located near La Garita, CO and resides in the Rio Grand National Forest.
